Plywood grading is made up from two sections. EN314 and EN636. EN314 relates to the bond strength of the board and EN636 relates to the durability of the board. Each classification has the same method of grading, class1, class2 and class 3.
Our plywood (8x4) is EN314 Class 3 and EN636 Class 2. There is currently no UK supplier who will guarantee plywood EN636 up to class 3 at thickness's at 5.5/6mm. If you are told that your plywood is EN636 class 3 then I would be very cautious as to our (and our suppliers) current knowledge there is no product that is guaranteed to this standard. Our plywood should perform at EN 636 class 3, but we will not guarantee this.
Please note, that using plywood alone will never give you a level floor as all it does it bite into the existing wooden subfloor and reduce the amount of dips/low spots. To level a wooden floor to a better standard than just bare plywood, its always best to microcoat the entire ply'd area to ensure the floor is level to the gauge of the trowel used, using a product like our Plani Prep Skim Coat is not too expensive and should be dry within 30minutes. To get a 100% flat and level floor we recommend that you ply wooden floors, then prime + screed the floor with a flexible waterbased screed, such as Renovation Screed, once applied correctly this will leave a perfectly flat floor, free of imperfections, the only way to really prepare a wooden subfloor for LVT.
Plywood should be fixed at 6" centres.
